love is in the air

I'm always seeing "hearts" - everywhere I go... and the other day I saw an outline of a heart in the clouds - I ran to get my camera and by the time I shot it-- it wasn't as perfect as it had been... but then I noticed that there was both the positive and negative shapes of the hearts. (like the cookie and the cookie cutter - both shapes: to the left is the cloud and to the right is the shape of a heart missing from the cloud)

Double Exposures in Digital Camera

A few months back I decided to return to playing around with double exposures that are created in camera -- I had done this a few years ago with a polaroid camera (examples are on my blog.) -- I have some double exposed 35MM film shots that I will post in a day or 2. But today I was playing around with doing it on a digital camera -- which isn't made to do it... so I was trying different ways it might work - and since it was a spur of the moment attempt - I was shooting images of printed photographs I already have rather then live models. Here are a couple attempts- I think that they will be better using live models.

Yesterday I met with Courtney and we ended up shooting some double exposures on film (2 images shot on top of each other in the camera) I can't wait to develop the film to see how they came out! I also shot this shot outdoors, just her, me and the camera -- no lighting or reflectors or anything... but I love this shot and a few other ones that we got too!

Well, I was back again at the FOX Studio backlot... and here is a pic of me with their NY City Street set behind me - got to walk down all the little fake streets - it was cool! A while back when I was there I got stopped and told to stop taking pics... but this time I got my pic taken! hahaha

Beauty of Nature and examples of suffering/ sacrifice

Today I was thinking about a flower of an orange or lemon tree - and i LOVE the smell of them!!

I began to think of way one can see our lives and the lives of the flowers from those trees... the way that the flower works to grow and transform itself (be transformed) into a fragrant blossom. But then begins to fade, wither... to die... and the tragic thought and pain and suffering of having worked so hard to become something only to loose it all.... In a way the meaningless of it... But I was thinking that, It is only if the flower is focussed on itself... If it were to be able to keep it's beauty, keep it's fragrance... the joy that it might bring.... but... at the same time... if it was to endure its suffering, accept its place and role - it can give far more then it could have ever given by it's own splendor... The flower fades and provides fruit, which fades away too and is also used up - becomes the soil for the efforts of the future... but provides seeds which dry up and endure transformation to the produce a tree that produces many flowers, fruit, and trees.... -- and the thing is the flower nor the fruit ever provided for itself... but always was provided for- given what it needed to have the beauty it had. It's beauty was created by what came before it... Nothing was ever "lost" -- all the sacrifice was used to better the purpose and create more beauty then could have been obtained with just one flower or one piece of fruit...

My Friend

I know that life is far different then it was before, and I was not even sure if I was going to say anything today... but I decided that I wanted you to know that I care about you and honor you... and I have joy for what today is. =) Also I knew what the 18th of last month was... =) I hope that you have already... but... - WILL!! -- freely say those things to her that have been a long time coming... besides... it was a "pinky" swear! =) Oh man... To Models that wanted to shoot with me....

The last few months have been kinda a whirl wind of one thing after another - and in that time I've had a bunch of models that were looking to shoot... but things have been so busy and hectic a few fell thru the cracks.

Yesterday and today, I went thru and called ALL the models who I know that wanted to shoot for the series -- 29 of you -- if you did NOT get a call or a message from me then you better drop me an email because I don't have you on my call list. =/ I plan on doing a bunch of shoots in the next two weeks so write me soon! -- Thanks! =)

Over 100 LARGE Prints!

So today was the last day that I will be printing for a while... I printed over 100 large scale prints that are 30"x 40" -- Now just have to figure out where to store them! hahaha But it has been very exciting and even made me realize how some of my photography has changed over the years, and ways that I want to attempt different shots - I think it has helped to focus me in a few areas. =)
