New Modeled Artwork

Some of the new artwork I have been working on... The first is from one of last years shoots - It is 2 screen prints pulled on newspaper - and then photography, spray paint and digital art all mixed together in a collage.  I am really liking this new process - I had been wanting to find a way to collage paint and print together with torn layers - And I think that I have found what I was looking for... Now to combine drips in it too!

The Image below is artwork from one of the new shoots.

Something New for Summer

Just a lil something new to start summer off -- I took two of the screen printing images that I had pulled a couple months back - one on white paper and one I pulled on newspaper -- Collage them together and then did some good old mixed media work to finish them off. I'm pleased with the outcome... the model is from a shoot I did WAY back in Oct. 2008!! -- I think that she will be more then surprised to hear/ get something new from me! hahaha

Recent Photo Shoots

I have been slowly coming off my artwork hiatus and setting up more and more photo shoots. In the past week I have shot with a few models and have a bunch to see about setting a time with. But it has been really cool because I have been shooting with the digital camera like normally... BUT I also have been shooting with the pinhole camera, the polaroid camera, and with my 35 MM camera too.

So it's been exciting to me just to know that I am getting even better at multi-tasking and creating more variety of work from less time spent with a model.  -- Now if I can only find a faster way of editing! - hahaha

Although I am really ONLY shooting for the series I am working on - After shooting for the series I did shoot a lil fashion/ editorial shots with one of my long time modeling friend, Maly.

Teachers

I went to my old kindergarden -8th grade school the other day - Some of the people there were being acknowledged for their years of service to the school - My dad included. 31.5 years on the schools board.  -- And it turned out that my 2cd grade teacher was retiring. There were like 8 teachers that I had had that were there that night - and it was really amazing to me to think about them. They were just doing their JOBS - but their "jobs" all brought me to knowing how to learn and read and discover... and it was just really cool to think about how special their jobs and lives were in mine. -- Something that I think that we often forget - those people whose lives helped to guide, mold and direct us. I just sat there really in awe and appreciation for all that they did and the other teachers do! =)

Etching from copper plate

Over the last week or so I have been working on the copper etching below -Which was based off of one of my photo shoots.
The second image below was then created from the copper plate from above - but then I aquatinted it to give it a bit more definition -- It was the first aquatinting that I have tried. I liked the process but would like to try it a few more times to really get use to it a lil more. I also did a lil bit of dry point on it before printing.

NAMI poster

I had a few dreams about different ideas about artwork/ how to create it - ect.  ... But then I had this dream about people loosing their memories and had an idea of how I might express that in printmaking... but then the idea was better as a dream then what I thought that I would be able to do with printmaking. I was still thinking about it and a good friend told me about NAMI - and then after reading their website - I decided to do a quick screen print that just kinda gets the point across - Many people are affected with mental illness - and we just don't even know that they are or that our friends and families struggle with them.

It was also  cool to do because I don't really like to get into politics and social issues - because most of it you can just go in circles over. But this kinda reminded me that there are some social issues that I actually do feel are important to think about. -- I had sketched out a few different ideas - So I might get to some of those at a later time.

Nature and Change

I have been scouting out a few of my old locations to start shooting models in nature again - and I have been really surprised at how much the same location can change in such a short period of time!!!

The new plants grow up and just change the visual appearance of the same location - into something that looks CLOSE to the same but really gives the location a different look, feel, and mood - in some cases.

Like wise it is really interesting to me that I can bring a model to the same location as a prior model but then that I will have a random new idea or way to pose her in the same few feet that the other model had posed in -but the shot and look is totally different too. I guess it is kinda encouraging that what is old can be new again. It always leaves room to be surprised and find something special in something that you think you already know....  Hmm that is kinda like what I was just saying about revisiting a place in a NEW Season....  =)

Polaroid Camera - Double Exposures

Decided to try and make some In-Camera Double Exposures. I just wanted to see if it would work, but kept running into trouble getting it to work. To get these I would have to shoot, but then waiting to pull the image until after prepping the camera/ shoot a second shot.
